Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

Our recent findings that fibromyalgia (FM) could be an autoimmune disease are potentially ground-breaking as they open up for new immunomodulatory treatment strategies (PMID: 34196305, 36943275). Although, the titers of these autoantibodies were associated with pain intensity, the key question how autoimmunity can lead to altered nociceptive processing, a hallmark of FM, remains to be resolved. We need a research assistant to engage in our studies regaring the pathophysiology of fibromyalgia.

Your mission

As an research assistant you will be expected to participate in the investigations of pain patients using a variety of methods such as questionnaires, quantitative sensory testing and preferably also taking blood samples and skin biopsis. In addition, there will be opportunities to work with data analysis (particularly within inflammation, lipidomics and metabolomics) and help out with drafting of scientific articles. You will work in close collaboration with preclinical and clinical researchers at Karolinska Institutet and also take part in our national and international collaborations.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment the candidate has to have a University degree within health sciences. Having a medical doctor degree is a merit. The applicant has to be fluent in English, speaking and writing, and has to be able to communicate with research subjects who only speak Swedish. Experience with previous scientific work is a strong merit. Knowledge  within the fields of inflammation, lipidomics and/or metabolomics is of special value.
