Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

Your mission

We are looking for a research assistant to contribute to the project on social and clinical determinants of late-life depression, with a particular focus on the changing role of these determinants across time and birth cohorts. The aims of the project are: 1) to examine the role of social (e.g., education, occupational status, social network) and clinical (e.g., chronic disease burden, medication history) determinants of depression in late life using longitudinal data from a population-based cohort study; and 2) to investigate how the relative importance of social and clinical determinants of late-life depression has changed in older adults of the same age, but belonging to different birth cohorts.

We are looking for a highly motivated research assistant who will be working under the main supervision of Dr. Serhiy Dekhtyar. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to quantitative analyses of depression risk and its change across birth cohorts using data from the Swedish National Study on Aging and Care in Kungsholmen, an ongoing longitudinal population-based cohort study with more than 20 years of follow-up of persons aged 60 years or older. Tasks will include data cleaning and preparation, statistical analysis, results appraisal, team discussion, and contribution to manuscript preparation.

This is a full-time, temporary position with a duration of 12 months.

Your profile

The successful candidate is expected (1) to hold a master’s degree related to epidemiology or public health sciences by the time of employment; (2) to have previous experience in quantitative analyses of data from a population-based cohort study, preferably using STATA statistical software; (3) to have excellent English language skills. Having previous experience in research on depression in old age will be advantageous.
