Do you want to contribute to improving human health?

The Brain, Body and Self Laboratory (PI: Henrik Ehrssson) use neuroimaging and behavioral methods to study how we come to experience our own body as an object distinct from the environment. Our aim is to characterize the perceptual rules and brain mechanisms whereby a central representation of one's own body is constructed by the integration of signals from the different sensory modalities (e.g., vision, touch, and proprioception). We are also interested in the relationship between basic processing of sensory signals from the body, on the one hand, and higher order representations such as conscious self-awareness, self-concept and episodic memory.

Your mission

We are seeking an experienced and talented cognitive neuroscientist with interest in psychophysics, EEG, and body representation and perceptual awareness research. The postdoc’s main duty is to conduct psychophysics and EEG studies on body ownership, awareness of body ownership, and information processing of multisensory bodily signals.  The postdoc is expected to design, plan, conduct, analyzing data, and write up first draft of manuscripts from human behavioral experiments and EEG studies on this research topic. Previous experience of psychophysics, signal-detection-theory, computational modeling, and EEG is a plus, as well as programming skills.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
