The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC has about 40 research groups and our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations.
The research group of Marie Arsenian Henriksson conducts research on the biology of the pediatric cancer neuroblastoma with the aim to identify its origin, metabolism, and novel therapy options. A large focus is on studies of metabolism which we also perform in medulloblastoma, cervix- and kidney cancer. We are a multicultural and dynamic group with national and international collaborators.
A highly motivated, skilled, and creative researcher is needed to join our team. The successful candidate will spearhead the development of a novel mouse model for neuroblastoma based on human induced pluripotent stem cells and analyze the therapeutic potential of metabolic inhibitors in blocking the processes of tumoral initiation and growth. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to take a leading role in experimental design, in vitro and in vivo assays, data analysis, interpretation, and communication of results both in drafting manuscripts as well as presentations at conferences. The successful candidate should have experience in writing grant applications and in supervising international Bachelor and Master students
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-driven scientist with passion in different fields of cancer research. The candidate should have a high degree of independence but with collaborative mindset, work productively in a team, and contribute to a good social and work environment in the laboratory. The applicant should hold a Ph.D. in Biomedical Science with a solid background in cancer and/or stem cell biology. Previous experience working with cell culture and molecular biology techniques is a prerequisite. Knowledge and experience in developmental biology, neuroblastoma, and bioinformatics is an advantage.
