The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB) is a department with a strong focus on basic science. CMB conducts research and education in cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, stem cell biology, cancer and infection biology.
We are looking for a committed early career scientist working in the field of computational biology, with a focus on cancer biology and modeling of spatial patterns in tumors. The research is focused on combining computatinal innovation and omnics experiments to reveal how cancer cells manipulate immune signals to escape the immune system in the context of human tumors.
The successful candidate is expected to lead a research team towards novel discoveries within the subject area, and to disseminate these findings at the international arena in the form of scientific publications and presentations at national and international research conferences and seminars. Other included tasks are research development, management of personnel within the team, fund raising and promotion of internationalization at university level. The chosen candidate should also actively participate in other departmental activities when called upon.
To be eligible for employment as a Principal Researcher, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise. The applicant must also be a Research Leader and have established their own line of research. The applicant should furthermore have shown documented, high-quality scientific production, particularly in the last six years and have the potential to energetically drive their research forward as well as be recognized nationally and internationally. The applicant should also have obtained good, long-term and preferably external funding and have the potential to obtain further external funding. The applicant should have shown teaching and supervision experience and demonstrated good leadership qualities.
It is particularly meritorious that the applicant has shown
• Shown ability to conduct internationally recognized high quality research as principal investigator.
• Successfully applied for competitive external funding.
• Experience from international research institutes/universities.
• Scientific original publications well cited (at least 5000 citatins), including in high-impact journals.
• Scientific independent ability demonstrated through leading and senior authorships.
• Review articles and other scientific publications.
• Presentations and scientific assignments at international congresses, invited seminars to institutions abroad.
• Research responsibility as supervisor for degree project on advanced level, doctoral student and postdoc.
• Reviewer and evaluator of the scientific work of others (articles and grant applications)
It is meritorious that the applicant has shown
• An extended international and national collaboration network.
