The Department of Laboratory Medicine consists of seven divisions in which both research and teaching are conducted. The department is involved in advanced research in both basic and applied research. All divisions operate in close contact with clinics at Karolinska University Hospital. The Division of Clinical Microbiology conducts activities that are permeated by multidisciplinary research in infectious diseases that contribute with translational knowledge to the development of new diagnostics and treatment methods.

Do you want to work on developing tomorrow's new treatments in cell and gene therapy? The Department of Clinical Microbiology is looking for a person with a strong background in cell and gene therapy and with hands-on experience in developing mRNA and DNA vaccines and therapies. The position is a temporary position for 5 months.

Your mission

Cell and gene therapies fall largely within the ATMP regulations and offer new opportunities to treat and prevent various disease conditions. In your role as a research assistant, you will work in our pre-GMP environment to develop new cell and gene therapies, with a focus on RNA and DNA therapies.

Your profile

We are looking for candidates with at least a master's degree in molecular biology and/or microbiology or other relevant subject. It is a requirement to have experience of working with RNA and DNA-based gene therapy products. Experience from working in a pre-GMP-like environment is an advantage. A PhD in a relevant field according to the employer is an advantage, but not a requirement. Co-authorship in scientific publications in gene and cell therapy is meritorious.
