Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

Pain is a common feature of various cancers. Cancer cells actively secrete factors promoting the neuronal infiltration of tumors. Stopping the electrical signals of tumor-infiltrating neurons helps decrease tumor growth, but the specific means through which neurons regulate cancer cell survival have yet to be determined. This proposal will uncover how tumor-innervating nociceptors, which are typically considered as bystanders, control malignant cells' immune escape behaviors and their resistance to therapy.

Your mission

  • Develop your research skills.
  • Discuss your knowledge and research with interested faculty and graduate students.
  • Publish results obtained during your tenure in appropriate journals and other recognized media; and
  • Help train and supervise graduate and undergraduate students in the laboratory.

Your profile

Track record of high impact research publications conducted in fast-pace and competitive research environment. Qualified to be employed as a postdoctoral fellow is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. Qualities sought after:

  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Skills in cooperative work, openness to feedback, and effective communication.
  • Passion and Curiosity: Genuine interest in research topic and eagerness to explore.
  • Advanced Knowledge and Skills: Mastery in relevant research methods (single cell RNA seq, spatial transcriptomic, bioinformatics, molecular biology, pain behavior, flow cytometry, qPCR, calcium microscopy, electrophysiology) and theories.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Ability to interpret complex information and resolve research issues.
  • Resilience and Persistence: Determination to overcome research challenges and setbacks.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to manage changing conditions and new challenges.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively disseminate research findings verbally and in writing.
  • Ethical Awareness: Adherence to ethical guidelines and regulations in research.
