Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

Do you want to contribute to cutting edge AI algorithms for medical images?

Are you intrigued by artificial intelligence (AI) and what it will accomplish for medical imaging? Do you want to be part of that development and further develop our database and infrastructure containing millions of medical images and other data?

We are a multidisciplinary research team working at the cutting edge of AI development and validation in breast cancer imaging. Members of our team are regularly invited to world-leading conferences to present our latest findings. We are involved in the EU project EUCAIM which aims to create a federated pan-European infrastructure for cancer images.

Our research focus is on training, validating, and thoroughly analyzing the performance of AI models. We have radiologists annotating anatomical structures in thousands of images. We have data linked from national registers. We are performing both retrospective studies, using existing data, and in prospective studies, examining what happens in the real world when using AI for women attending screening or diagnosed with breast cancer. Our stack uses both local and S3 storage-as well as cloud solutions. We have access to powerful GPUs in the KI network. No development and no exploration can happen without a cutting edge back-end with a database storing all data.

Your mission

As an infrastructure specialist with backend & data engineering focus, you will develop the underlying infrastructure of our lab. You will be our main representative in the EU project EUCAIM which is a collaboration between over 60 European institutions. You will contribute to creating the first European-wide infrastructure for cancer images.

Your profile

We are looking for candidates with experience managing NoSQL databases (we use MongoDB), crafting APIs, analyzing and constructing datasets, and implementing data analysis techniques, preferably in python. It is a plus if you have experience in setting up cloud infrastructure especially for federated training and validation of ML algorithms, dealing with containerization, and implementing CI/CD workflows. Candidates with experience building and deploying software products are especially encouraged. Showcasing previous work is encouraged.

We are looking for a high-profile and dedicated technology expert. Your mission will be to establish new operational processes to link our infrastructure to the ongoing research projects. The tasks include national and international collaborations with many stakeholders and specifically with various EU institutions in the EUCAIM project.
