Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

KIgene is a core facility at Karolinska Institutet, physically located at the Center for Molecular Medicine (CMM) at Karolinska Hospital. The facility offers genetic analyses, covering Sanger DNA sequencing, gene expression and genotyping, epigenetic analysis as well as techniques for spatial biology.

The environment

KIGene is a well-established node at KI with more than twenty-five years experiences of running a core facility. KIGene merged with the in situ/imaging core facility at CMM, with a 20 year track record of tissue-based expression analysis, creating a hub for spatial biology at KIGene. As a first step the GeoMX digital spatial profiling platform from NanoString Technologies has been established in 2020. The GeoMX enables spatially resolved, digital characterization of proteins or RNA on tissue slides at high multiplex. The technique does not require isotopes, secondary antibodies or amplifications. In summer 2023, the core will receive the CosMX spatial molecular imager, a spatial multiomics single-cell imaging platform.

The personnel at KIgene consist of three full time employees; one senior lab manager and two research engineers, plus one part-time employee and a scientific director. The core works in close contact with the Translational Psychiatry team at the Dept. of Molecular Medicine and Surgery, KI.

Your mission

KIgene is now recruiting a Research Specialist who will work in close collaboration with the rest of the KIgene team mainly on the GeoMX and CosMX platforms. The work includes planning, coordination and interaction with customers on their specific projects, as well as laboratory and analytical work.
