In the Laboratory of Prof. Klas Blomgren at the Unit of Pediatric Oncology and Surgery at the department of Women’s and Children’s Health, Karolinska Institutet, we focus on understanding the mechanisms by which the radiotherapy to the juvenile brain causses long-term neurocognitive impairments, in order to develop novel therapies to reduce, or even prevent, the long-term damage to the brain after radiotherapy without compromising the treatment of the tumour. We are a a multidisciplinary team of molecular and cellular, and computational biologists.

Your mission

The successful candidate will be assisting on a research project aiming to understand the dynamic of neuroinflammation occurring after cranial irradiation in mouse models, with especial focus on the microglial response. The candidate will be assisting in preforming molecular biological assays and histological analyses.

Your profile

  •  Bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences, or a proof of successful completion of such program.
  • Previous experience in performing standard molecular biology techniques i.e., qPCR.
  • Previous experience in performing immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence stainings.
  • Previous experience in using confocal microscopy, slide scanner and image. Previous work with microglial cells will be an advantage.
  • Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
