The offered position is part of ongoing projects regarding the plasticity of neuronal network organization under physiological (exercise/training) and pathophysiological conditions, such as neuromuscular disorders (NMDs) and injury. To address this issue, we will take advantage of the experimental amenability of the genetically powerful model system of the zebrafish – whose circuitry is relatively simple, better understood, and produces a measurable and robust behavioral output.
We are looking for one highly motivated researcher interested in neuroscience, particularly neuroplasticity, and regeneration. The candidate will be involved in ongoing research investigating how adaptive changes shape the organization and operational range of the corresponding neurocircuit. Our lab uses various state-of-the-art methods, including electrophysiology (patch-clamp recordings), imaging, fixed tissue immunofluorescent microscopy, and animal behavior.
Candidates should be highly motivated, energetic, self-organized, creative, and able to work independently and in collaboration.
Requirements are a PhD. degree in neuroscience or a related discipline (within the past two years), with previously demonstrated expertise in neuroscience (at least one publication). In addition, any previous experience with neuroanatomy, electrophysiology, and work with zebrafish will be positively evaluated.
Scholarships for postdoctoral qualification can be established for foreign researchers who place their qualifications in Sweden. The purpose of scholarships for postdoctoral qualification is to promote internationalization and contribute to research qualification after a doctorate or equivalent.
A scholarship for carrying out postdoctoral research can be granted for a maximum of two years within a four year period following the receipt of a doctoral degree or equivalent.
To be eligible for a postdoctoral scholarship, the person must have obtained a doctorate or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) start date of the post doctoral education.
The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish doctorate or higher.
Location: Solna
The amount is tax free and it is set for twelve months at a time, paid out on a six months basis. In exceptional cases, shorter periods may be acceptable.
