The Department of Laboratory Medicine consists of seven divisions in which both research and teaching are conducted. The department is involved in advanced research in both basic and applied research. The Division of Clinical Microbiology conducts multidisciplinary research in infectious diseases that contributes translational knowledge to the development of new diagnostics and treatment methods.

Now Ujjwal Neogi research group is looking for a postdoc for a fixed-term position for 2 years extendable to 1 year.

Your mission

As a postdoc, you will conduct systems biology research in infection biology. You will spend most of your time on research activities. The role involves both independent work and teamwork, where you are expected to support and assist students and other researchers with your experience and knowledge in bioinformatics. You will receive expert guidance in viral biology and access to modern equipment to generate multicomic data on viral diseases.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. In addition, we want you to have documented research expertise and documented research experience in systems biology and have good knowledge of modeling of metabolic networks at the genome scale. It is advantageous to have industrial experience and knowledge of the FAIR principle. It is particularly meritorious to have experience in network analysis, development of metabolic models and good knowledge of the Metabolic Atlas.
Experience in the analysis of transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics and microbiome data (both 16S and metagenomics) with publications is also particularly meritorious.
Having received independent grants and published high-impact research articles in the field of systems biology as first author is also particularly meritorious.
