We are strengthening KI's research support with an Alliance Manager for an industry partnership.

This position will be placed at the External Engagement Office (EEO), which supports researchers in establishing and managing partnerships with industry and other external actors. EEO is a unit within the Research Support Office (RSO) at KI's central administration whose goal is to stimulate the utilization of KI's research and maximize KI's external research funding. The other units within RSO are the Grants Office (GO), which amongst other things supports researchers with external research grant applications, the Grants Management Office (GMO), which supports researchers with project administration and financial reporting of EU/US projects, and the Compliance & Data Office (CDO) which supports researchers with non-financial compliance for externally funded projects and offers advice, support and system support regarding research documentation and research data as well as central management of KI's clinical trials.

Your mission

The alliance manager position includes coordinating an ongoing international scientific partnership between KI and Janssen Pharmaceutica NV. The current research covers several different areas and questions. An important area of ​​responsibility for applicants will be to initiate, plan and establish new collaborative projects. This position as alliance manager also involves helping with the coordination and management of the research activities in the ongoing research projects, and handling general issues related to the collaboration.

The daily work includes, for example, identifying new opportunities for collaboration, matchmaking and facilitating the preparation and initiation of new projects (including establishing joint objectives and resource needs, contractual issues, budgeting, and invoicing, advising on applications to the ethical review board and biobanks etc). Other activities include day-to-day project management and coordination of collaborative projects as well as providing regular documentation and communication as to their status, milestones, and deliverables. As part of an alliance manager team, you are expected to contribute to an efficient way of working between all participating parties including being one of the links between the company, the research groups, and the steering committee for the collaboration.

Your profile

We are looking for a person with an academic education in life science with at least 5 years of experience working with research in academia, industry, or healthcare. Experience in register-based research (national health data registers and quality registers), project management, as well as a documented experience of epidemiological research or biostatistics is a definite requirement.

A good knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry as an industry (especially pharmaceutical research and development) is a clear advantage, as is a good insight into KI's research activities. You must have very good language skills in English, both orally and in writing. We attach great importance to personal qualities and social skills. It is important that you are prestige-free and results-oriented. You have documented good administrative and organizational skills and a structured way of working. You are service-oriented, clear and proactive, as well as flexible and adaptable. The work requires independence and that you find out the necessary information yourself and take personal responsibility for the tasks. You also have very good collaboration skills and want to actively contribute to good relationships with colleagues, partners, and researchers.  Previous experience of working in an international environment is an advantage, as the role involves working with global teams.
