The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC have about 40 research groups and our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations.

Current projects involve antibody discovery, vaccine design, building models of molecular evolution, and various applications of deep learning.

Your mission

You will develop and lead projects at the intersection of virology, immunology, and protein design.

You will contribute to ongoing lab projects with:

Standard molecular biology, such as cloning, PCR, etc.
Protein expression in mammalian cells, managing cell lines, etc.
Protein purification (affinity and SEC).
Various assays.
Optionally, small animal handling, immunizations.

You will also contribute to various lab admin duties.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

-Clear written and spoken communication in English is required.

-You must have played a key role in some published work (preprints count)

-Practical experience and familiarity with some of the following:

Standard molecular biology, such as cloning (eg. by Gibson assembly), PCR, etc.
Mammalian cell culture techniques.
Protein expression and purification
Small animal handling experience is a plus, including eg. FELASA certificate.
Experience with pseudovirus assays is a plus.
