The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC has about 40 research groups and our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations.

Current projects involve antibody discovery, vaccine design, building models of molecular evolution, and various applications of deep learning.

Your mission

Duties of this role involve:

  • Contributing to a Julia package for next generation sequence analysis.
  • Setting up tests and documentation.
  • Maintaining and developing codebases and packages in the Julia language.

Your profile

  • Experience with Python, C++, and especially Julia
  • Demonstrable coding experience, with code available on public repositories
  • Some experience with analysis of viral next generation sequencing data
  • Experience with sequence alignment algorithms, especially involving kmers
  • Experience and familiarity with the Sequence Read Archive
  • Experience with large language models
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English
