Do you want to contribute to improving human health?

We are looking for a high-profile project coordinator to help us build the future life science, artificial intelligence (AI) and research data infrastructure in Sweden and Europe. The position is placed at Karolinska Institutet (KI), and is part of a collaboration between Centre for Imaging Research* (CIR), Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab) and Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE) that form the Swedish node of the large European TEF-HEALTH initiative.

About TEF-HEALTH

Via the Digital Europe Programme, the European Commission aims to promote the testing and adoption of trustful AI technologies through world-class testing and experimentation facilities (TEF) to boost the development of artificial intelligence and its use. The first Testing and Experimenting Facility in Health (TEF-Health), was launched in January 2023 and its Swedish node is operated through Karolinska Institutet.

TEF-Health will form a virtual testing facility to promote data-driven research, AI development and precision medicine. It will provide access to a physical testing facility for data generation within imaging and molecular profiling to a broad user community primarily targeting SMEs, but also of strong relevance to academic and clinical applications.

In Sweden, the TEF-Health project will synergize with related European projects such as EHDS Genomics, EHDS Cancer Imaging and EDIH. The joint aim is to build an AI-facilitating data infrastructure such as trusted research environment, shared interfaces for data exchange of clinical research data and the development of a precision medicine data portal along with cataloguing existing data sets available towards 2nd use.

Your mission

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated project coordinator to help the project leads to coordinate and enable all activities within the TEF-Health project. These activities include helping the project leads to manage and report on work packages, develop strategies, sustainable business-models and navigate the stakeholder landscape. Working within the project, you will support and proactively reach out to engage a growing user community from the life science industry and healthcare sectors.

You will be part of a new team, building a new function, developing this based on and integrated with the successful existing structures at KI, CIR, and SciLifeLab.

Your tasks will include:

  • Implementation, coordination and project management of the TEF-Health project, ensuring timely delivery of milestones and deliverables
  • Working with national and international stakeholders in AI, life science and healthcare around TEF-Health and data-driven infrastructure and research, establishing sustainable and long-term partnerships and networks
  • Creating structures to enable industry, academic and healthcare access to the facilities and the available advanced methods
  • Starting initiatives and organizing educational and outreach activities toward the AI, life science industry and healthcare sector, including thematic challenge driven multi-stakeholder workshops
  • Functioning as a link between the project partners to increase knowledge and share best practices
  • Generating communications content and activities related to InfraLife
  • Acting as the TEF-Health representative at external meetings and events that can be both scientific and strategic in nature
  • Work to acquire additional funding for collaboration between TEF-Health and other stakeholders

Your profile

We believe that you are a driven, outgoing, and socially skilled person with a keen interest to guide the TEF-Health project forward. You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and can thus establish trustworthy relationships and create the necessary partnerships. Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability.

To be successful in this role we believe you have solid scientific background with a university degree within molecular biology, biotechnology, bioinformatics, AI, neurology, radiology, imaging, neuroscience, or similar, and at least 5 years of experience working with research management and/or coordination at some level. Experience in research using advanced research infrastructure is a definite merit. You have a background from either an industrial research group, from healthcare or clinical research, or from an academic research environment with extensive industrial collaborations. A good understanding of the Swedish life science ecosystem, and experience in interacting with funding agencies and policy-making organizations, is a strength in this position. You have a proven record of collaborative and interdisciplinary work.

You can express yourself freely in both spoken and written English and should be comfortable also in Swedish. Experience with European projects, writing applications and different types of legal documents and agreements are seen as a merit.
