These positions offers a unique opportunity to leverage the synergy between experimental and computational approaches to fundamental questions about human cognitive capabilities. In particular, the successful applicants will capitalise on the vibrant interdisciplinary environment sustained by a strategic collaboration between the Division of Psychology at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet and Computational Brain Science lab, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
The position involves research in computational neuroscience. In particular, you are going to build large-scale computational network models and simulate relevant experimental paradigms. You are expected to analyse simulation data and perform quantitative as well as qualitative evaluation of the model’s compatibility with heterogeneous experimental data. The position also implies the need to write and publish scientific papers.
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills relevant to the project, to the previous research experience and to the ability to collaborate in cross-disciplinary groups.
Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken, as well as scientific writing skills are required. Publication record in computational neuroscience, and particularly in the context of brain’s working memory function, is stongly meritorious. Experience with network simulations of spiking units is considered an advantage.
