We are looking for a statistician who wants to work in a dynamic environment at the intersection of academia, healthcare, regulatory authorities and the pharmaceutical industry.

The Centre for Pharmacoepidemiology (CPE) at the Department of Medicine Solna, conducts academic research on drug safety, drug effectiveness and drug utilization and carries out projects on behalf of regulatory health authorities and pharmaceutical companies in the area of pharmacoepidemiology. A large part of our research is based on data from the Swedish national registers, as well as corresponding registers and observational health care data from other countries, especially the Nordic countries.

CPE was established in 2005 and has become a leading player in the pharmacoepidemiology field in Europe and is now one of the largest academic pharmacoepidemiology centres in Europe. CPE has many international collaborators and participates actively in Nordic, European and international consortia. About 15 employees and a number of affiliated researchers work at CPE. At the moment, at least 35 research projects are ongoing. This is a great opportunity for a statistician who wants to develop their statistical skills using real world data. You will be part of a team of co-workers with extensive knowledge and expertise within the pharmacoepidemiology area, dedicated to good team spirit and knowledge sharing.

Your mission

You will be the statistical expert outlining and performing data management and statistical programming in commission projects, mainly Post Authorization Safety Studies (PASS), in close collaboration with other project team members, including epidemiologists, medical experts and project leaders, in which you will contribute with your statistical knowledge in the planning, execution, and final reporting and dissemination of the project results. Good knowledge of statistical methods for cohort and case-control studies is required, especially survival analysis and modelling of time-varying phenomena.

You will also be part of CPE’s academic research by providing statistical expertise, including choice of statistical methods for research questions proposed by medical experts or epidemiologists. Moreover, there are opportunities for development and application of new statistical methods together with your colleagues and to pursue your own applied statistical research.

Your profile

We are looking for you who have a degree in statistics/biostatistics (minimum Master of Science in Statistics) or equivalent education or experience.

CPE is in need of a broader range of expertise within statistical programming languages/softwares and therefore good knowledge, experience and competence in R programming is a requirement. Additional experience using SAS or Stata is a merit.

Experience in working with large databases is a requirement and experience with using data from the Swedish/Nordic national registers is a merit.

You have excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written, and good knowledge of Swedish or another Scandinavian language is a merit.

As an individual, you are self-motivated, responsive, a quick learner, structured and have a good ability to alternate between different work tasks. In the assessment of applicants, demonstration of initiative and cooperative skills will be of the utmost importance.

The position is located within the Department of Medicine, Solna. The department consists of twelve divisions and each division consists of several research groups.
