The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC have about 40 research groups and our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations.

Your mission

The main focus for the position is culturomic of microbiota in women’s health. The candidate is expected to play a leading role in generating scientific hypothesis, conducting experiments, analysing data, preparing presentation of results and manuscript. The candidate should also be able to work independently. The candidate will work on several projects related to vaginal microbiome including bacterial and cell culture, host-microbe interaction studies with vaginal microbes. Immunology experiment and analysis is required.

Your profile

We are seeking highly motivated students who have a strong interest in microbiota and related research. Previous research experience related to immunology and microbiota are considered as an advantage. The applicants should have good communication skills and ability to interact effectively and work productively in a team of scientists. Emphasis will be placed on documented ability and previous experience in laboratory work. Excellent skills in speech and writing, including scientific writing in English are required.
