At the Division of Rheumatology, Department of Medicine, Solna, we conduct research on diseases affecting the musculoskeletal system, including inflammatory and non-inflammatory diseases. The Division of Rheumatology offers good opportunities for clinical research on large and unique patient groups from the clinic along with biomedical and experimental animal research.

Your mission

Your duties will be to assist lab management within our research group and work in research projects within immune-mediated diseases e.g., systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), lupus nephritis (LN) and rheumatoid arthritis. It will involve design of experiments in wet lab, performing experiments, preparation of samples for high throughput analyses, statistical evaluation and bioinformatics analysis. Preparation of research articles for publication will be a part of mission in
collaboration with other group members.

Your profile

We are looking for motivated person with University degree in biology and/or Master of Science in biotechnology with experience in biomedical applications. Deep knowledge in molecular genetics, bioinformatics and statistics is essential. Practical experience in wet lab for at least three years is important with practical skills in whole genome sequencing, genetic cloning, Western blot, cell culture and flow cytometry. Additional advantage is practical knowledge in analysis of protein-protein interactions with isothermal titration calorimetry. Expertise in R and experience in biostatistics is a requirement. Successful candidate is expected to be familiar with current state of research in autoimmune disorders and updated on scientific literature in this area. S/he will work within multicultural environment with English as main language of communication.

Location

The position is located within the Department of Medicine, Solna. The department consists of twelve divisions and each division consists of several research groups. The position is located  within the research group Per-Johan Jakobsson, teams Ioannis Parodis and Leonid Padyukov. The work touches on various aspects of autoimmunity in SLE and RA.
