Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC has about 40 research groups and our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations. We are looking for research engineer within Single Cell Cancer Genomics to Bienko-Crosetto Lab.

Your mission

You will be part of a collaborative project aimed at characterizing the genetic heterogeneity of Luminal B breast cancers, by applying a single-cell DNA sequencing technique already established in our lab to breast cancer biopsies available from our clinical collaborator at Karolinska University Hospital.

You will be embedded in a dynamic research environment focused on basic genome biology, molecular methods development and oncogenomics. You will be working alongside senior scientists, postdocs and PhD students from different fields and diverse cultural backgrounds.

Your main tasks will be:

  • Preparing single-nuclei suspensions from frozen biopsies.
  • Performing sorting of the nuclei into 384-well plates at the Sorting Facility at Biomedicum.
  • Performing ACT (Minussi et al, Nature 2021) on the sorted nuclei by leveraging a liquid nanodispensing device (I.DOT) available in our lab.
  • Pre-processing the raw sequencing data and performing DNA copy number calling using well-established computational pipelines available in our lab.

You will work alongside a clinical postdoc and a PhD student expert in bioinformatics who will be responsible for your daily supervision.

Your profile

We are looking for you who are passionate about single-cell genomic technologies and want to contribute to research on a tumor type that still has a major socio-economic burden. We are searching for you who are meticulous and attentive to details.

  • You must hold a master’s degree in biotechnology/biomedicine/bioengineering or equivalent, obtained no earlier than 2021.
  • Have a documented experience in working in the lab on one or more genomic techniques.
  • Prior hands-on work with single-cell DNA sequencing methods is a major advantage.
