We are recruiting a research assistant to provide support to the Professor Anders Sönnerborg´s group. The research focus is on regulation of HIV latency and replication We are exploring HIV cure along different lines. The present position is focused on the role of NK cells in this regulation. This is studied mainly in cell-lines but also in primary patient samples from our biobank, utilizing diverse technologies such as advanced flowcytometry, and various in vitro cell assays.

The position will be for 3 months and be placed at Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine Huddinge. The experimental research is done at ANA Futura Lab, Campus Flemingsberg. The research group and the department offer an engaging and international research environment where a research assistant will have the opportunity to contribute to high-quality research and capacity building at the international top level.

Your mission

HIV causes a life-long infection which with todays antiretroviral therapy cannot be cured. However different approaches are used to eliminate the remaining virus in the cellular reservoirs. Our novel approach is focused on elimination of the latent virus through NK cells. As a research assistant you will work in a multidisciplinary team under Associate Professor Robert van Domselaar and provide support in characterizing the mechanism behind our novel findings that NK cells can contribute to the reduction of the HIV reservoir. You will employ a combination of flow cytometry, HIV cultivation in cell-lines and primary cells as well as different cell and molecular biology techniques.

Your profile

Applicant should show educational and scientific activity corresponding to a Bachelor of Biology with documented courses immunobiology, biochemistry, biotechnology applications of microorganisms, microbiology and molecular biology. Also, knowledge in genetics and experience of scientific writing are warranted. Applicant should be fluent in English (written and spoken). Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
