The Department of Global Public Health is an interdisciplinary department that works to deepen our knowledge of how a population’s health can be improved on a local, national, and global level. The aim of the research conducted at the department is to map determinators of health, develop and evaluate individually focused as well structural health initiatives, and provide a knowledge basis for guidelines and policies. Many of the researchers at the department are scientific advisors to public agencies and other decision makers at a regional, national and international level. There are nine research groups at the department, comprising some 85 doctoral students and around 140 employees.
The Centre for Health Crises was recently launched following an initiative from KI’s president and aims to increase the preparedness for future health crises, as well as strengthening response and resilience when new health crises arise. This is done by catalysing research collaborations, participating in the development of new education, gathering of existing - and building new - expertise within the area, and conducting policy work. Through our work we want to build the next generation of health crisis experts.
The Centre for Health Crises is headed by Director Johan von Schreeb, who is based at the Department of Global Public Health. There are also other expertise and support functions connected to the centre.
The Centre for Health Crises is looking for a coordinator who will assist with monitoring grant announcements and will conduct grant applications. The role will include internal coordination, external monitoring and contact with collaboration partners. We are looking for someone with plenty of experience of writing applications, and who has basic competences in an area that is relevant for the theme of health crises.
Since the workload around applications will vary significantly over time, the position also includes other tasks. Examples of such are: developing the Centre’s internal and external networks, organising the announcement of seed-funding within KI, external monitoring of topics other than grant applications, and taking part in organising meetings and other activities. You will be part of a small, but tightly-knit team, and it is important that you are prepared for the fact that tasks might change at short notice, since it is part of the Centre’s mission is to act on global health emergencies. It is also important that you are able to work independently, are diligent and able to work under pressure and deliver on short-notice deadlines.
The position is full-time (with an option of part-time, no less than 50%, if desired), time limited for a year with a start date in January 2023.
We are looking for someone who fulfills the criteria listed below:
