The Department of Laboratory Medicine consists of seven divisions in which both research and teaching are carried out. The Department is involved in advanced research in both basic and applied research. All departments operate in close contact with clinicians at Karolinska University Hospital.
Research in Katarina Le Blanc's research group is focused on better understanding how mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) can have such a powerful effect on the immune system. The main areas of interest are applications of MSC in neuroinflammation, particularly in multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer's disease. We are currently looking for a research assistant who is willing to contribute to several ongoing projects in the Le Blanc group, located at Karolinska Institutet Huddinge.
The position is a fixed-term appointment of 1 year.
Your tasks will include the transfer of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from healthy bone marrow donors, the creation of a biobank of MSCs for future experiments and the performance of co-culture experiments. You will collaborate with other laboratory members and support their work as well as be assigned to individual experiments and projects. In addition, the position involves various organisational and administrative tasks as well as weekly meetings.
We want you to have a medical background and significant research experience of wet-lab in immunology and translational medicine. Good computer skills and to be able to use various Microsoft Office applications with ease is a requirement. As you will be working in a multicultural environment, excellent written and spoken English skills are required.
Furthermore, the position requires that you have the following experience:
Experience in myeloid-derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation and co-culture with immune cells is an advantage. Knowledge of the Swedish language or another language is an advantage but not a requirement.
