Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The laboratory of Principal Researcher Håkan Karlsson, located at the Department of Neuroscience aims to identify the genetic and environmental causes of neurodevelopmental and psychiatric illnesses (see, https://ki.se/en/neuro/karlsson-laboratory). Our approach to this is using administrative and health-care registers and clinical biobanks. To this end, we retrieve and handle large numbers of anonymized samples each year. These are distributed to our international collaborators for different analyses but also analyzed in house, using antibody-based multiplexed bead assays for specific proteins involved in our immune system.

Your mission
We are now recruiting a laboratory technician who will work closely with the principal investigator within a small group at the center of a network of leading researchers within the field of psychiatry.

We offer an interesting position involving different and variable tasks. These include assisting in the collection of samples in biobanks located at Karolinska University Hospital, Solna along with handling and analyzing collected samples in our laboratory located in Biomedicum, Karolinska Institutet, Solna. The work will also involve ordering and inventory of consumables and analytical reagents. Careful documentation is critical and requires the use of electronic laboratory notebook.

Your profile
The applicant should have an education in biomedicine, biology or equivalent. Experience in the use of antibody-based assays is an advantage. We value flexibility and independence.

We would like for applicants to note that there is little or no opportunity to work on individual research projects.

Good ability to work in teams is a requirement. The applicant should preferably be fluent in Swedish and English, with good communication skills since the working environment is international.

An overall assessment of the applicants’ qualifications will be made.
