Do you want to contribute to better health for all?

We are recruiting a new postdoctoral researcher to join our international research group conducting translational studies to understand respiratory viral infections. In particular, our research is focused on immune responses in blood and airways during influenza and COVID-19. We have established clinically well characterized patient cohorts of across disease severity that we have followed prospectively over time, and have large biobanks from these cohorts that are available for the project.

Your mission

You will work with samples collected from patients with SARS-CoV-2 or Influenza virus infection, as well as perform in vitro virus infections in biosafety level 2 and 3. By investigating the immune responses throughout the course of disease, we aim to find novel biomarkers that can aid in the understanding of how severe disease develops. You will also study how immune cells interact and are affected by virus infection in vitro

Your profile

The successful candidate should have documented experience and skills in experimental immunological work with influenza and COVID-19 patient blood and respiratory samples. The candidate should have well established knowledge in immunology, pathology and virology and experimental methods related to these fields. Documented skills and experience in cell culture and virus infections in biosafety level 2 and 3 is required, preferably with influenza viruses and SARS-CoV-2. It is an advantage if you are also proficient in advanced flow cytometry and cell sorting. The candidate should be able to communicate with others in English and be suitable for teamwork.

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
