We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow for the Occupational Medicine Unit at the Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM), Karolinska Institutet. The work is focused on epidemiological studies on occupational and environmental exposures and health. The occupational medicine unit is co-located with the Stockholm Region's Center for Occupational and Environmental Medicine (CAMM), nearby Karolinska Institutet, Solna Campus.

Your mission

As a postdoctoral fellow, you will, together with members of the research group, conduct epidemiological register-based studies on various occupational and environmental medical exposures and how they affect health. Primarily, the work will take place within the framework of the EU project Equal-Life https://www.equal-life.eu, which studies children's school and residential environment linked to children's mental ill health as well as a national project on occupational exposures during pregnancy and neuropsychiatric impairment in children. The work consists of participation in research meetings, processing of collected data, analysis of large epidemiological cohorts and writing several scientific articles.

Within the research group, the association between physical (noise, vibrations)/chemical exposures and health outcomes such as pregnancy effects, cardiovascular disease or cancer is primarily studied in national and Nordic research projects. The work takes place in collaboration with researchers from all over the EU within the framework of two active EU-Horizon 2020 projects, Nordic projects and national projects. We also have teaching within the unit and as a postdoctoral fellow you are expected to participate in the teaching of the master's program in Work and Health and/or the medical education at KI. The position is a 2-year fixed-term position with the possibility of extension.

Your profile

We are searching for a highly motivated researcher with an interest in occupational and environmental epidemiology. You should have a PhD-degree within Medicinal Science or an other relevant area. Previous experience of epidemiological research is a requirement. 

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
