The Unit of Integrative Epidemiology at the Institute of Environmental Medicine is looking for a research specialist. Our main goal of the research is to improve the understanding of the risk factors and prognostic indicators for different disease, with a focus on neurodegenerative diseases, psychiatric disorders, and cancer. We strive for multidisciplinary approaches in epidemiologic and experimental research and integrate different scientific tools when addressing specific research questions.
The research work will focus on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a relatively rare but devastating neurodegenerative disorder. The emphasis of the research is to investigate disease mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets for ALS through integrating epidemiologic and experimental research.
The candidate will be responsible for project coordination (e.g., collection of data and biospecimens, biobanking), coordination of experimental project (e.g., animal model and human sample), data analysis, result dissemination, manuscript writing, and supervision of students. The candidate should have a firm understanding in the field of neurodegenerative disorders and immunology and be interested in contributing to an interdisciplinary research group.
To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented research experience after defending their doctoral dissertation. For this position, we would like you to have an academic background in immunology and epidemiology.
