Karolinska Institutet, Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society

The Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) conducts world leading research in aging, dementia, epidemiology and care sciences. This research extends from basic molecular and cell levels to clinical research and societal studies. NVS educates almost a third of KI students at basic and advanced levels. The Department has approximately 540 employees and a revenue 2023 of 530 million SEK. It comprises seven divisions, located at Campus Flemingsberg and Campus Solna.

Aging Research Center (ARC), a division within NVS, is located at KI Campus Solna, Stockholm. It is a multidisciplinary academic environment, representing medicine (e.g., neurology, epidemiology, psychiatry, geriatrics), psychology (e.g., cognition, structural, functional, and molecular brain imaging), and social gerontology (e.g., sociology, public health, social epidemiology, social work). The center has around 70 employees, it has a strong focus on research with unique research resources, such as large-scale longitudinal studies and nationwide registries.

Your mission

The selected candidate will work in geriatric epidemiology, with an emphasis on investigating metabolic disturbances in cognitive and physical function in older adults. The daily work will include data cleaning, data analysis and handling of various data in collaboration with other database managers. In addition to this, you are expected to help younger students with statistical analysis and interpretation of results.

The employment is a fixed-term employment of 6 months with start the 1th of January 2023, or according to agreement.

Your profile

We are looking for you who are highly collegial and able to work well in a cross-disciplinary team as well as having the ability to work independently. The applicant must also possess good organizational skills, attention to detail, and analytical skills. The successful candidate is expected (1) to hold a doctoral degree in medical science; (2) to have experience of working with epidemiological data in the field of geriatric epidemiology; (3) to have experience in database management and data handling with SAS or other statistical software; (4) to demonstrate good oral and written communication skills in English.
