Unit of Integrative Epidemiology at Institute for Environmental Medicine (IMM), Karolinska Institutet (KI), is aiming to improve the understanding of the causes and consequences of health and diseases, with a focus on neurodegenerative diseases, psychiatric disorders, and cancer. We strive for multidisciplinary approaches in epidemiologic research and integrate different scientific tools when addressing specific research questions.

Unit of Integrative Epidemiology IMM is now looking for 1 postdoctoral researcher to lead and coordinate projects relating to comorbidities between cancer and other chronic diseases, using data from longitudinal cohorts, national registers, and biobanks.

Your mission

We are interested in studying the comorbidities between cancer and other chronic diseases, including psychiatric disorders and cardiometabolic disease, using epidemiologic and multiomics approaches. Many of our projects are collaborating projects with other countries. As a postdoctoral fellow, you are expected to take a leading role in the entire research process, from planning and project administration, ethical application, data processing and analysis, to interpretation and communication of findings. You are also expected to participate in the supervision of doctoral students and teaching. The position is a fixed employment of 2 years.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

Specific requirements for the position:

  • Doctoral degree in medicine, or a related field.
  • A strong background in epidemiology, biostatistics, or alike.
  • Experience in managing and analyzing data of large-scale cohorts, national registers, or biobanks.
  • Experience with research in cancer epidemiology or genetic epidemiology.
  • Advanced skills in statistical software (R, Python, SAS or/and Stata).
  • Proficient knowledge in English.

In addition, it is advantageous to have good knowledge in oncology, psychiatry, cardiology, or medicine in general. Experience from international collaboration and project administration will also be appreciated.
