Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

We are looking for a collaborative immunologist that would like to venture into human neuroimmunological research. We are a team of clinically oriented immunologists currently focusing primarily on the immunology of autoimmune encephalitis. The etiology of this group of disorders is only just starting to be unraveled. Furthermore, the immune system of the human brain has been comparatively little studied. Solving both fundamental and clinical questions in this realm is the focus of the Theorell team. You will find our team and the wider Mjösberg group an optimal place to grow and drive outstandingly important research with both short- and long-term clinical impact.

Division

Using state-of the art technologies, including multi-parameter flow cytometry and single-cell RNA sequencing, you will both map the intra- and extracranial neuroimmunological processes in health and disease. You will also be involved in autoantibody screening using live transfected HEK cells and tissue sections in patient groups with a suspected high prevalence of these disorders. There is considerable bioinformatic knowledge in our team and in the Mjösberg group, so there will be plenty of opportunities to work with and potentially learn bioinformatics. You will work in a small, multi-disciplinary constellation, meaning that excellent communication skills and enjoying collaborating with others is essential. It is expected that you will eventually supervise students and other researchers, as well as contribute to common lab duties.

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. You have completed your doctoral degree within the last five years. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that the degree will be completed no later than the 31st of December 2022. This must be substantiated by your main supervisor, director or equivalent.

Applicants must have relevant university education and hold a PhD degree in immunology or equivalent. It is essential that you enjoy laboratory work. Furthermore, flow cytometric competence is a requirement. Neuroimmunological expertise, biochemistry and transfections, cell culture and histology, as well as bioinformatics and single-cell RNA sequencing are meriting skills. The candidate should be self-motivated, have good communications skills and a proven ability to interact effectively and work productively in an interdiciplinary team. Fluency in English is a requirement.

Entry requirements

Scholarships for postdoctoral qualification can be established for foreign researchers who place their qualifications in Sweden. The purpose of scholarships for postdoctoral qualification is to promote internationalization and contribute to research qualification after a doctorate or equivalent.
