Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

A postdoctoral position within a collaborative project with ultimate mission to understand how the interplay between the peripheral and central nervous systems in regulating pain sensation, is immediately available in the laboratory of Senior Researcher Saida Hadjab who heads a young group at Karolinska Institutet, department of Neuroscience, in the dynamic environment of BIOMEDICUM.

Division

We are a research group interested in revealing cell state changes associated to chronic pain. The Hadjab lab studies the development, and identity regulation of somatosensory neurons with particular interest to nociceptive lineage aiming to provide new treatment to pain disorders (some of our latest publications: Nat Comm 2019, Nat Comm 2020, Nat Comm 2022, Cell Rep 2019, Development 2019, etc). We are located in a vibrant quarter in the new BIOMEDICUM building which offers a very interactive environment for tight collaborations with most forefront experts. The postdoc will continue the successful line of investigations aiming to dissect pain-sensing neurons in health and disease.

Duties

This is an opportunity to study pain pathways modulation using manipulation, elimination, and visualization of genetically defined cells which can be combined with electrophysiology, calcium imaging, optogenetics, tracing and behavior testing.

Description of duties and areas of responsibility

We are looking for a creative scientist, driven to answer biological questions from a new angle. The candidate should have completed a PhD in neuroscience. Previous and documented experiences in electrophysiology, calcium imaging, optogenetics, virus injections, behavior related to avoidance, matlab scripting is consider a plus.”

A scholarship for carrying out postdoctoral research can be granted for a maximum of two years within a four year period following the receipt of a doctoral degree or equivalent.
To be eligible for a postdoctoral scholarship, the person must have obtained a doctorate or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) start date of the post doctoral education.
