Two Research Assistant positions in 3D Genomics are immediately available in the Bienko and Crosetto lab for Quantitative Genome Biology at the Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab) in Stockholm (https://bienkocrosettolabs.org/).
Our lab focuses on developing and applying cutting-edge experimental and computational methods to investigate the three-dimensional (3D) organization of the genome in the nucleus of mammalian cells and how this influences gene expression regulation and cell identity.
As a Research Assistant in our lab, you will be trained in a variety of methods for studying the 3D genome architecture, including the GPSeq method that we previously developed for profiling the radial placement of the genome in the nucleus (Girelli et al, Nat Biotech 2020) and the Hi-C method for probing chromosome contacts genome-wide (Lieberman-Aiden et al, Science 2009).
You will then contribute to various ongoing projects in our lab by applying these methods to different cell model systems and working alongside postdocs and PhD students in our group to analyze and interpret the resulting data.
You will be embedded in an international and culturally diverse thriving research environment, surrounded by senior scientists, postdocs and PhD students from very different backgrounds, giving you the opportunity to learn new concepts, developing your experimental skills, and fostering your creativity.
Your primary task will be supporting other experimentalists in the lab, by performing GPSeq, Hi-C and other 3D genome mapping methods in the context of various ongoing projects. Specific tasks include:
Do you like to work at the bench and make experiments? Do you want to develop knowledge and skills in the exciting field of 3D genome biology? Are you meticulous, attentive to detail, analytical, and self-critical? Then you are the right person!
If you have previously worked with NGS techniques, that’s great! However, we also welcome applications from people without prior experience in NGS who have a demonstrated track record of working with molecular biology and protein biochemistry techniques.
To be eligible for this position, you must have obtained a bachelor and/or master’s degree in biology, biotechnology, bioengineering, medicine, biomedicine or equivalent not more than two years before the deadline of this application.
