We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow for the Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Department of Medicine, Solna. We perform international top-class clinical research and have a close collaboration with the Department of Respiratory Medicine and Allergy at Karolinska University Hospital. Your role
The project aims to identify factors associated with chronic airway obstruction in never-smokers and to study mechanisms behind disease development. The research is based on a relatively large cohort recruited from the national "Swedish CArdioPulmonary bioImage Study" (SCAPIS) study, with extensive information from questionnaires, lung function tests and biological samples including bronchoscopy. The work involves data collection, quality control, formulating hypotheses, developing analysis plans, managing databases, analyzing and presenting data and writing scientific articles. The project is a collaboration between the six universities and university hospitals that are part of SCAPIS (Umeå, Uppsala, Stockholm, Linköping, Gothenburg and Lund/Malmö). The position involves regular contact with collaborators at participating centers. Oral and written knowledge of the Swedish language is a prerequisite.
Who are you?
We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and driven postdoctoral fellow with a background in epidemiology and biostatistics and with interest and experience in lung medicine research. You are fluent in both spoken and written Swedish and English and can travel to participating centers when needed. You have completed a doctorate or have equivalent scientific competence and are interested in a continued scientific career.

Qualifications
Doctoral degree in medical science. Formal training in epidemiology or statistics. Experience managing large databases, excellent data management skills and solid knowledge of common statistical software. Knowledge of Swedish and English in speech and writing.
Competences, skills and experiences that are considered meritorious:
Ability for scientific formulation in speech and in writing. Good cooperation skills and ability to take own initiative. Experience in communicating with authorities, partners at other centers in Sweden and other stakeholders. Experience in pulmonary research.
Undergraduate education in biomedicine, medicine, biology, statistics or related subjects.
Location
The position is located within the Department of Medicine, Solna, Karolinska Institutet. The department consists of twelve departments and each department consists of several research groups. The position in question is placed within the Magnus Sköld research group.

The research group is led by Professor Magnus Sköld and focuses on translational and epidemiological research in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Pulmonary Fibrosis. The group collaborates with units both within Karolinska Institutet and other universities, and also has international collaborations.
