Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (MEB) is one of the largest departments in epidemiology in Europe and has a special focus on deepening our knowledge of the causes of various diseases. Our department consists of researchers, doctoral students, biostatisticians, data collectors, database administrators and administrative staff, a total of about 250 employees. The department is located on the campus area in Solna. More information is available at: ki.se/meb

The prostate cancer group at MEB conducts international cutting-edge research in prostate diagnostics and tailored treatment. Specifically, the group has for several years worked with artificial intelligence-based models to assist pathologists in their assessment of prostate biopsies.

Your role

In order to build models based on artificial intelligence to be used for pathological assessment of prostate biopsies, it is required that the physical glasses on which the biopsies are located are digitized with the help of special scanners for digital pathology. Clinical variables describing the biopsies also need to be collected from reports written by pathologists in several different languages. Your responsibility is to carefully review the reports in PDF format and collect the clinical variables into structured Excel tables. Your tasks may also involve scanning biopsies.

The position is an hourly employment of 3 months with flexible working hours. The work can be carried out remotely for the most part, but the opportunity to work on site in Solna is advantageous. The person hired will need to be available for start immediately.

Who are you?

You are thorough and work well independently and together with others. Being able to read the reports in at least two of the following languages is a requirement: French, Italian, Spanish, Finnish. Knowledge of more than two of these languages counts as a plus. You must also be able to communicate with colleagues in English. Previous work experience and documented experience from various professions in an international environment is a plus. Knowledge in medicine, digital pathology or computer science is an advantage. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
