The department LIME is mainly focused on contributing to an in-depth knowledge formation in our main areas of pedagogy, informatics, management, ethics and statistics through research, postgraduate education and teaching.  

The Unit of Medical Statistics (MedStat) is responsible for course activities in postgraduate education and for statistical consultation to researchers at Karolinska Institutet, Region Stockholm or other external actors. What characterizes our current and future employees is curiosity, high independence, and a good communicative ability. The unit has weekly statistician meetings where there is room for support and professional development. 

Your mission

The position as a statistician at MedStat is divided between teaching and consulting assignments. In teaching, you work together with other statisticians to develop the content of our courses and teach on these.  The scope of the consultation period varies from advice/supervision to performing the statistical calculations and writing method part to scientific publication. As a consultant, you are included as the sole statistician in projects, which requires that you can independently solve problems and communicate with the researchers. 

Your profile

A successful candidate will have:

  • A master's degree in statistics or mathematical statistics, preferably with an applied focus, and have some work experience as a statistician. 
  • Good knowledge of one, preferably several, statistical software (e.g. R, Statistica, SPSS, STATA and/or SAS).
  • High communicative and pedagogical skills, as well as good knowledge of English as well as Swedish in both speech and writing. 

It is meritorius if you have:

  • Previous work experience of teaching at university level
  • Previous work experience in statistical consulting. 
  • An interest in issues in medical science. 
  • A doctoral degree (PhD)
