The psychiatric genetic epidemiology group within MEB is comprised of numerous researchers ranging from graduate students to senior professors. Several large case-control and cohort populations are available with genetic data and complete medical and demographic information. The research is performed in an interdisciplinary setting with strong collaboration with clinical departments and other national and international research groups.

Your mission

Dr. Bergen’s group conducts research investigating the genetic and environmental risk factors for psychiatric disorders, specifically, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, and depression. Projects within this research area will be possible upon agreement, making use of the exceptional data from the Swedish National Registers and several genetically informed collections across a range of psychiatric disorders collected within Sweden. The open position is for a postdoctoral researcher for at least one year, and the position must start in September 2022 or earlier.

Prospective candidates should be skilled in statistical analyses, particularly using R and SAS, and have experience with computational analyses of genetic data. The ideal candidate would also have some epidemiological experience and/or familiarity with national register/electronic health record data. Interest in psychiatric genetics research is a prerequisite and knowledge of this research field is an advantage. Successful candidates will have a high level of English proficiency and ample experience with publishing research articles. We are seeking a candidate who is responsible, motivated, independent, curious, hard-working, and committed to producing high-quality science. With us you will also have the opportunity to grow and develop as a researcher in a successful, interdisciplinary research team.
