The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research in immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC has 280 active employees, including 50 PhD students, 43 postdoctoral researchers and 20 professors.

We are seeking a motivated and ambitious immunologist at the post-doctoral level to work in the team of Assistant Professor Pia Dosenovic at MTC. The team studies B cell-mediated immunity with a focus on questions related to vaccine development. https://ki.se/en/mtc/pia-dosenovic-project

Your mission

The project aims to study basic scientific questions regarding the regulation and function of B cell responses to relevant viral antigens, with the goal to gain insights in how to design future vaccines that induce optimal protection against specific viral infections. The team has established genetically modified mouse models and immunogens that will be used to evaluate these questions. In addition to taking the lead and advancing the specific research project(s), it is expected that the candidate contributes to common laboratory duties and participates in the supervision of research students.

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

Specific qualifications

For the current position, candidates with a PhD in immunology and a documented experience with mouse studies, multicolour flow-cytometry and single cell analysis will be prioritized. Experience in bioinformatics is considered valuable but not a requirement. The candidate should be highly motivated, enthusiastic and have good communicational skills. The candidate should be used to working efficiently in a team-oriented manner as well as working independently. Personal suitability will be evaluated. Fluency in written and spoken English is a requirement.
