Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

Up to 2 postdoctoral positions are open at a dynamic and well-funded research group that applies multi-disciplinary and innovative approaches to reveal the underlying molecular mechanisms of disease pathogenesis. Besides providing access to cutting-edge technology and infrastructure, our lab offers a creative, collaborative and supportive environment full of expertise, passion and curiosity.

Your mission

We are looking for highly motivated postdoctoral candidates for studying the link between metabolism and immunity, in the field of immunometabolism, and its implications for disease pathogenesis, with a particular focus on cardiovascular diseases. For these tasks, he/she will combine mouse genetics and in vivo disease models with a wide range of cell biological, and immunological experimental methods, such as flow cytometry analysis, microscopy and metabolomics. The project also requires application of diverse gene editing techniques, such as site direct mutagenesis, gene expression system, protein purification and other molecular techniques.

Your profile

The applicant is eligible to apply if he or she has obtained a PhD in Cancer biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related fields. We are seeking for creative and goal-oriented candidates, with a proven scientific track record, including one or more first-author publications. Candidates must demonstrate vast experience in gene editing techniques (cloning, site directed mutagenesis, working with viral vectors, CRIPSR/Cas9 knockin and knockouts, and shRNA gene editing techniques) as well as have in vivo experimentation with mouse models of immunity and/or metabolic diseases (a license for animal experimentation valid in Sweden will be consider advantageous). Knowledge of the ubiquitination field will also be considered an asset. The candidate must also demonstrate experience in culturing and testing immune cells, including FACS analysis and metabolic assays (ie. measurements of metabolic flux, metabolomics, lipids metabolism)

The applicant should be highly motivated and collaborative. She/he is expected to work in a diligent way to take responsibility in generating properly controlled scientific data of high quality. Ideal candidates should be able to interact closely with the supervisor but at the same time can work independently and taking a strong lead in managing the project. They should also demonstrate capacity to organize and plan experiments. Good interpersonal and communication skills are required and personal suitability for the group will also be a strong selection criterion.

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
