We are looking for a motivated research assistant to be part of our collaborative research group with a focus on particle toxicology at the Unit of Biochemical Toxicology, Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM). The research at the unit aims at understanding the connection between exposure to chemicals and complex negative health effects, such as cancer and effects caused by endocrine disruption. You will participate in various exciting projects with a focus on understanding more about the toxic effects of nanoparticles and nanowires consisting of different metals.

Your mission

The main task of the research assistant will be to culture different types of cells, expose them to various nanoparticles and nanowires and perform toxicity testing using a range of methods including viability assays, comet assay, micronucleus assay and multiplexing of cytokines. Part of the project involves studies on nanoparticle uptake in collaboration with other scientists. The research assistant will also perform statistics, write manuscripts, and take part in meetings and discussions with collaborators. The employment is temporary for six months. 

Your profile

The applicant should have a master’s in toxicology and practical training in laboratory work with cell culturing and toxicity assessment. Previous work with nanoparticles or nanowires and toxicity testing is meritorious. The candidate needs to be highly motivated and organized. The candidate should be able to work well within a team with scientists from different disciplines, have good cooperation and communication skills and should communicate well in English, both orally and in writing.
