A postdoctoral researcher position is available in Meletis' laboratory in the Department of Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet.

Your mission

The project aims to define the role of neurons subtypes in the mouse striatum in emotion and cognition, including how disease progression in mouse models of Parkinson’s disease affect the function of circuits and neurons, using optogenetics and in vivo imaging of neuronal activity.

Applicants must have a strong background in neuroscience, with a focus on circuits that control movement and motivation. Demonstrated experience in mouse models of Parkinson’s disease, animal behavior, transgenic mice, and pharmacology. The ideal candidate should enjoy working in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment. Excellent command of written and spoken English is required. 

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
