An exciting opportunity to be part of the Karolinska Institutet biomedical research at the Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC). MTC conducts research and teaching in immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC has about 430 active employees, including 100 PhD students, 50 postdoctoral researchers and 26 professors. Key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, translational, national and international collaborations.
A postdoctoral research position is now available in the laboratory of Immunology and Oncology led by Dr Lisa Westerberg. The laboratory is located in the top modern Biomedicum building with shared infrastructure for advanced technology platforms and built for interdisciplinary collaborations. Ongoing research is focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms in development of immunodeficiency diseases with high incidence of autoimmunity and cancer.
The postdoctor will lead a project to find new treatment strategies for rare immunodeficiency diseases. The applicant is required to have extensive knowledge and experience in drug screening approaches, especially flow cytometry based approaches, and in development of orthogonal assays to test compound hits. Experience of work with gene editing techniques in human cell lines and FACS sorting of immune cells is an advantage.
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
