Most of the work is carried out using the anterior chamber of the eye technology in combination with in vivo and in vitro microscopy, protein and mRNA assays and immunohistochemistry.

Your mission

The Rolf Luft Research Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology is recruiting a Research Specialist to work closely with the rest of the team, primarily in one of our ongoing, long-term projects to investigate how apolipoprotein CIII is involved in the development and progression of insulin resistance and whether there is a link to the higher incidence of neurodegenerative diseases seen in diabetes.

To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a PhD, the applicant must have demonstrated relevant research expertise in in vivo animal experiments, isolation of pancreatic islets and transplantation of islets, in vitro cell research, two photon/confocal microscopy, analysis of intracellular Ca2+changes, immunohistochemistry, neuro- and protein biochemistry, in vivo imaging, hormon assays. He/she should demonstrate his/her ability to deal with multiple projects simultaneously, solve problems independently and interact well with group members. Previous experience supervising doctoral students constitute a strong merit. The applicant should also have scientific production in recent years in internationally prestigious journals.
