The role is based in the Paediatric Oncology and Paediatric Surgery division at the Department of Women's and Children's Health.
This position is aimed at preparing the candidate for a successful future career in academia. The role entails planning and running experiments, analysing data as well as preparing publication-quality figures, drafting manuscripts and applying for research grants.
This opening is focused on skeletal growth and the mechanisms of its maintenance. The successful candidate will be expected to plan and conduct experimental research to reveal basic mechanisms relating to skeletal disorders arising from childhood cancer treatments. More specifically, duties will include collecting and analysing human tissues, maintaining a colony of mice, processing and analysing murine samples. Methodologies include confocal microscopy, histological and histochemical staining, immunofluoresence, in situ hybridisation and RNAseq. The candidate is expected to drive their project forward and actively follow the scientific literature.
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
