Research at the Institute of Environmental Medicine is carried out in four major areas: epidemiology, toxicology, physiology, environmental and occupational medicine. The institute offers an excellent international research and working environment, and has about 350 employees and associates. The institute also provides authorities in Sweden and EC as well as international organisations (e.g. WHO) with expertise on environmental health risk assessments.
The aim of the research at the unit Metals and Health is to identify toxic effects of metals in the general and in the work environment, to understand causal relationships between metal exposure and various diseases, and how susceptibility factors influence these relationships. We also study mechanisms of particle toxicity with a focus on metal and combustion-generated particles. We work both in vitro and using molecular epidemiology approaches. We now search for a postdoctoral researcher with competence in particle toxicology.
The successful applicant will work on toxicological studies of particles generated from combustion of renewable fuels using different in vitro models (including 3D models of the human lung). The project includes a combination of traditional toxicological assays, toxicogenomics as well as in vitro-in vivo correlations. As a postdoctoral researcher you will be involved in all steps of the project, i.e., experimental planning, data analysis, and writing manuscripts. The position is temporary for two years.
