Procome Research Group

PROCOME Research Group focuses on research on effects and implementation of innovative improvement programs in different type of organisations, with specific focus on health and social care.The research aims to increase knowledge regarding the effects and implementation of different types of improvement programs. PROCOME has considerable national and international collaboration.

Project

This opening is for a Research Assistant position working with a project concerning low-value care: practices that lack evidence of effectiveness and may be unnecessary or even cause harm. In this project we investigate factors that influence health care professionals’ decisions about providing certain practices that could be considered low-value care. To detect these factors, we will apply a Factorial Survey Experiment, also known as a vignette experiment. This project is funded by the Swedish research council for health, working life and welfare (FORTE).

Duties

In your role, you will:

  • design the setup of the Factorial Survey Experiment;
  • perform necessary power analyses;
  • oversee participants recruitment and data collection;
  • prepare and perform data analyses
  • co-write a scientific paper,
  • collaborate in the scientific work of the group, prepare documentation related to the project, participate in project meetings, write reports, and document dissemination activities,
  • take active involvement in research group scientific activities.

Entry Requirements

The candidate has:

  • an MA in Psychology, Behavioral Economy, Public Health or related field;
  • experience and/or required knowledge and skills to design, conduct, and analyse the results from a Factorial Survey Experiment using the latest developments in this area;
  • competence in statistics, psychometrics, and data management;
  • advanced competence in using statistical software: R and/or Stata;
  • must be fluent in English and have excellent scientific writing skills in English;
  • is driven, self-motivated, and takes initiative,
  • is able to think critically,
  • good communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills,
  • excellent organisational skills.

The following competence will be considered a meriting asset:

  • Experience and competence in the field of decision making;
  • Interest in research concerning low-value care;
  • Previous experience in working or managing externally funded research projects;
  • Previous experience in preparing scientific manuscripts and conference presentations;
  • Knowledge of Swedish is not essential but will be considered.
