Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

Join our highly qualified team of biostatisticians in the Applied Biostatistics group (ABS) of the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics! In our team, you will take responsibility for scientific collaborations as an applied statistician in high-profile epidemiological research projects, as well as contributing to strategic departmental tasks in biostatistics and bioinformatics. The position offers large opportunities for professional development. Our team is embedded in the larger MEB Biostatistics group with nearly 40 staff including 4 professors of biostatistics.

Your mission

As a member of the ABS, you will work in research projects in a wide range of medical applications. Your main tasks are:

  • Contributing statistical expertise to epidemiological research at MEB. This involves the responsibility of planning, design and analysis of studies, as well as interpretation and presentation of results in scientific articles in collaboration with researchers at the department.
  • Providing practical support and supervision in statistics and programming for researchers and PhD-students
  • Contributing and/or leading the development of research documentation procedures and/or collaborate with the IT department regarding statistical software and computational servers.
  • Teaching (lectures and/or computer labs), subject to requirements and interests.

This position can be adapted to your competence, experience and interests. There are also possibilities for pursuing your own research in biostatistics and epidemiology as part of your employment. We see participation in courses, seminars and conferences, both internal and external, as a natural part of your professional development.

Questions regarding the role, please contact Cecilia Lundholm. Contact information can be found below.

Your profile

We expect you to have a degree in statistics, mathematical statistics or a related field.  As working with people in other professions is a large part of this job, you need to be structured and self-reliant, and able to work on multiple projects in parallel. Excellent communication skills and good command of spoken and written English are important; knowledge of Swedish is a plus, but not required. We expect you to be motivated to expand your knowledge in biostatistics, epidemiology and medicine, as required. We further expect you to have an interest in the strategic development of our group and applied biostatistics.

We consider experience in the following areas to be additional qualifications for this position: research in epidemiology, medicine or biostatistics; machine learning; collaborative research; statistical consulting; application of statistical programs SAS, Stata and/or R; secure data management, research documentation and project organization.
