The research group Equity and Health Policy is looking for a temporary research assistant. This is a great opportunity to conduct a systematic review on a burning topic. Your mission

You will conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis on risk factors for infection in older adults who receive home healthcare and/or home help. The systematic review has been registered with PROSPERO and the work will follow the standards of PRISMA checklist for systematic reviews. Your tasks include:

  • Develop search terms in collaboration with KI librarians (who will conduct the database searches)
  • Identify inclusion- and exclusion criteria and PICO
  • Extract data (i.e. go through the articles identified through the database searches)
  • Undertake bias assessment of eligible studies using Cochrane bias assessment tool
  • For quantitative studies: conduct meta-analysis to assess effect sizes
  • For qualitative studies: identify categories in the data using a thematic approach followed by comparisons between the studies
  • Undertake data synthesis involving presenting, grouping and comparing data on the reported exposures for quantitative and qualitative studies separately, followed by providing an overarching synthesis
  • Present and analyse the research process and findings in the format of a scientific article

You will be supervised by Dr Ann Liljas and also work with Ass Professor Janne Agerholm, Ass Professor Pär Schön (based at Stockholm University) and Professor Bo Burström, head of the team Equity and Health Policy at the Department of Global Public Health.

This is a temporary position of 7 months full-time. There is an opportunity to work part-time in the first two months. Desirable start of the employment is April 2022.

Your profile

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Master degree in a relevant topic e.g. health-related subjects or statistics
  • Basic skills in statistics is required and more advanced skills in statistics is desirable
  • Confident in using reference management tool (e.g. EndNote) and statistical software (e.g. STATA) of your choice
  • Good understanding of systematic reviews (e.g. why and how they are conducted)
  • Excellent scientific writing skills
  • It is desirable that you have an interest in learning about the spread of infectious diseases and home care opportunities for older adults
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken

  • Hard working, including being driven and always meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work independently to a large extent
