Description of the subject area

At the Center for Psychiatry Research (CPF), successful research has been performed in the field of positron emission tomography (PET) for the last 40 years. This imaging technique has been used to investigate pathophysiology and treatments of a number of psychiatric and neurological disorders such as schizophrenia, depression and Parkinson’s disease. Advanced radiochemistry and own method development at the forefront through world-leading development of own PET radio ligands has been a necessary success strategy for studying receptors, transport proteins, enzymes and disease markers in the living brain. A significant proportion of the research and development has been run in the form of industrial collaborations.

Your mission

During 2022, the PET facilities will move into new and optimized buildings at the Karolinska University Hospital. To secure succession we now seek an experienced researcher within medicinal radiochemistry to run research at the international forefront. The position is ideal for a competitive researcher that can lead a strong research group but also take part in graduate and postgraduate education programs through education and supervision.

  • Well established national and international collaborations in the field of radiochemistry.
  • Research collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience of radioligand development for PET applications in studies of CNS diseases, novel tracers for applications outside the brain can also be credited.

It is meritorious that the applicant has shown

  • Good pedagogical experience for various forms of teaching at first-, second- and third-cycle levels.
  • Experience of individual supervision of degree projects, doctoral and postdoctoral students
