We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to participate on studies aiming to improve CAR T cell therapies. The postdoc project will be conducted in Pr. Jonas Mattsson’s research group with the organizational affiliation to Department of Oncology-Pathology.

At the Department of Oncology-Pathology basic, translational and clinical research and educational activities related to cancer is carried out. Approximately 300 people from over 40 nations are currently working at the department, with 36 research groups with various cancer research profiles involved and around 110 PhD students.

Your mission

The successful candidate will study new approaches to improve CAR T cell therapies as well as deciphering how the tumor environment impacts mesothelin directed chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells for the treatment of advanced ovarian cancer. Our research interest is within tumor immunology and we put considerable emphasis on translating our basic research findings to patient care.

 

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

We are seeking a highly motivated and independent postdoctoral researcher with a solid background in T cell immunology, cell biology and/or tumor biology. The candidate should be well familiar with standard techniques such as molecular biology (PCR, qPCR, cloning), cell culture, T cell phenotyping and functional assays (e.g multicolor FACS analysis, ICS, tetramer staining, chromium 51 assay), aseptic cell culture of human T cells following the principles of good manufacturing practice (GMP), experience in tissue processing (e.g. fresh tissue samples), and preclinical work (mouse model). Previous experience with handling of patient material in the immunotherapeutic setting, tumor biology, analysis of large databases and advanced statistical analysis, are requirements. Experience with CAR T cell therapy (including preclinical) and FELASA certificate is a strength.

Knowledge of both spoken and written English and good communication skills.
